Amanda Morgan

Amanda Morgan, who has a B.A. in Anthrolopology from the University of Oregon and an M.A. in Prehistory from the University of Sheffield in England, grew up experiencing the value of extended families. She spent her early years in the area where her novel, The Lights of Home, takes place. “We kids, siblings and cousins alike, looked forward to an evening engrossed in the music, stories, and laughter of the old folks whenever kin came calling,” Amanda says. “My father was a mesmerizing storyteller. As my generation matured, the stories, once limited to only the humorous, expanded to touch on family tragedies and associated scoundrels. As an adult doing archaeological fieldwork, I came to realize how powerful family stories and local legends are in establishing our morés.”
