Ann Gaylia O'Barr

Ann Gaylia O’Barr was a Foreign Service Officer in the United States Department of State from 1990 to 2004. Her assignments included tours in Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Canada, and Tunisia. She also served in Washington, D.C. in the bureaus of Population, Refugees, and Migration and in Intelligence and Research. Ann is the author of six novels, Singing in Babylon, Quiet Deception, Searching for Home (a finalist in the 2008 Pacific Northwest Writers Association Literary Contest), Distant Thunder, A Sense of Mission, Tender Shadows (all OakTara). Ann’s published articles include: “French Diary” in State Department Magazine (December, 1996); “Bringing In the Kingdom with 51 Percent” in Liberty Magazine (November, 2005); “Jeddah and the 1991 Gulf War” on the American Diplomacy website (March, 2006); and “The Diversity of God’s Call to Writers” in ACFW Journal (winter 2012). Ann lives in Washington State.
